Are you a medical student, college student, or high school student interested in dermatology research? The Department of Dermatology at Drexel University College of Medicine, in conjunction with UVtec, a UV protective licensing company, is offering a competitive, 4-week summer research program with a unique opportunity to explore key topics in dermatology through mentored research.
Program Focus Areas
Clinical Dermatology Research – Investigate a dermatology-related clinical topic.
Sustainability in Dermatology – Explore the environmental impact of dermatologic care.
Business & Cost Considerations in Dermatology – Analyze insurance coverage, costs, and accessibility of dermatologic interventions.
Program Details
Duration
Varies. Most projects are about 4 weeks long. As we plan teams for projects we pair students from medical school, college, and high school to work on projects together for support and learning. Most meetings are virtual and set up amongst team members based on mutual availability while individual tasks are performed between meetings. Dates are flexible however for planning purposes and creating teams the application requests dates of availability.
Final Week
In-person or remote research presentations with all participants. (date TBD)
Eligibility
Medical students | Must be enrolled in a US medical school, entering second year. All applicants must be a legal resident of the United States. *Preference will be given to Drexel University College of Medicine students, but all eligible applicants are encouraged to apply. |
College students | Must be enrolled in a 4 year degree conferring program in the United States. |
High School students | Must be entering junior or senior year. |
Stipend
$750 for medical students
$500 for college students
$250 for high school students
Certificate awarded upon completion
Publication & Conference Opportunities
Past participants have had their research published and/or presented at local & national dermatology meetings.
