TITLE: | 2025-26 Drexel Dermatology Research Fellowship (FUNDED) |
SEEKING: | The Department of Dermatology at Drexel University College of Medicine, in conjunction with UVtec, a UV protective licensing company, is seeking a full-time and/or part-time Research Fellow for 1 year (June 1, 2025 – May 31, 2026), who is passionate and committed to a career in dermatology. Please note: - Start and end dates can be flexible. - Will be primarily remote but with regular in person coordination and opportunities for clinical observorships and participation in conferences and journal clubs.

COMPENSATION: | A monthly stipend of $1500, without benefits.

ELIGIBILITY: | Must be a U.S. Citizen or a legal resident. Must have completed at least an undergraduate degree. Preference will be given to medical students or recent medical graduates. Preference will be given to Drexel University College of Medicine students, but all eligible applicants are encouraged to apply. |
RESPONSIBILITIES: | Coordinate and support new and ongoing educational and advocacy projects. Track, coordinate, write, edit, and submit ongoing research. Organize and execute new research trials. Support grant program execution and reporting. Facilitate meetings and events. Co-author multiple manuscripts and present research at meetings. Oversee and manage student projects. Building liaisons to other departments and schools within Drexel for projects. |
SKILLS: | Strong communication skills and work ethic, with reliable responsiveness. Comfortable working with and leading a small team of medical students Strong writing and editing skills Strong organizational skills Google Doc/Sheets skills Microsoft Word/Excel/Powerpoint skills Ability to train in and master the TriNetX database |
ACTIVE AREAS OF RESEARCH: | Ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) in clothing, textiles, and accessories Sustainability in dermatology Impact on health and environment for sunscreen and sun protective products Psychosocial impact of dermatology therapeutic interventions Cost effectiveness in implementing preventative health tools Bioethics in dermatology, social media, professionalism TriNetX projects around cutaneous disease, therapeutic interventions, etc. |

DR. ILYAS Brief Bio:
Dr. Erum Ilyas is a Board-Certified Dermatologist, entrepreneur, inventor, author, and interim Academic Chair of Dermatology at Drexel University College of Medicine, with over 20 years of clinical experience and a deep commitment to advancing skincare and dermatological health. She founded AmberNoon, a dermatologist-designed sun protective clothing line, and developed a now US patented textile called UVtec for sun protection, combining her expertise in dermatology with innovative textile technology. Dr. Ilyas has published numerous articles, spoken at national meetings, and engaged in dermatological advocacy. Her influence extends to media appearances and partnerships, positioning her as a leading voice in dermatology and skin health. She will be releasing her first book with the Johns Hopkins University Press at the end of 2025.
